שלום and welcome to סַבָּבָּה - my new online Hebrew course designed to take your conversational Hebrew to the next level. סַבָּבָּה is designed to dramatically improve your listening comprehension and speaking skills of today's conversational Hebrew.
In the course we will be learning with dialogues. These are real life conversations that you would actually experience out and about in Israel. We will be learning 9 different dialogues together each one taking place in a different environment. We will begin at the restaurant and then move to the beach, pass by the airport and finish in Tel Aviv. These are just some of the 9 environments that we will be "visiting" in this course (full curriculum is below for you to see and preview).
Working with dialogues will allow you to significantly build your listening (and speaking) skills. I'll be taking you through a step by step method for listening to these dialogues which will dramatically increase your familiarity with conversational Hebrew and will help you really understand full speed conversational Hebrew as it's spoken today.
In addition to our dialogue practice we will be learning the key words which you'll find in these specific environments. So you'll be building a real-life vocabulary that you'll be able to use ALL THE TIME in your Hebrew. I've also built in flashcards to this course. These flashcards are available on your computer (or phone) and come with audio and pictures. This will allow you to store in your long term memory all of the content that we'll be learning so the next time you find yourself in that conversation with someone you'll have the words ready in your memory for use. Nothing more frustrating that forgetting a word that you know that you know, just when you need it. Hands up if that's ever happened to you before (I'm currently raising my two hands and a foot).
Finally in every chapter (be it the restaurant or Tel Aviv) we'll be covering the key grammar points so you'll be continuing to grow your understanding of how Hebrew works. This will help you in speaking and listening as you'll be able to understand more about how sentences are built and how words are conjugated.

Advanced students will also derive benefit from this course as the conversational nature is a skill that even the most advanced students can always improve on. Your Teacher
Mike moved to Israel in 2012 from Australia. Not knowing more than 50 words his first few years in Israel were challenging because of the language gap. Feelings of frustration, low confidence and social isolation were common.
But Mike was committed to developing fluency as quickly as possible. He experimented with a range of study techniques, spoke Hebrew with anyone and everyone, refused to speak English to Israelis and taught himself to a level of fluency.
In 2015 Mike was offered full time teaching work in a democratic primary school. He taught and did everything in Hebrew feeling completely a part of the country for the first time since he moved to Israel. He describes it as a huge challenge and a wonderful experience.
He now teaches Hebrew full time with a passion to help those whose experience he knows intimately. His mission is to make the 'road to fluency' as smooth, efficient and supportive as possible. His nurturing, comprehensive and methodic teaching approach has positively impacted on hundreds of students in Israel and around the world.
