Welcome dear Hebrew student! If you're a beginner to the language and want to start learning by building yourself a base that will 'hold' your Hebrew learning journey then Hebrew 1 is for you. This course is for those that are just starting to learn Hebrew. We'll learn the sounds and letters and how to read and pronounce them. This will start to train your brain to how Hebrew sounds and this will help you every step of the way as you continue learning Hebrew.
In H1 you'll also learn your first 40 words. Some of the most common words in Hebrew.
The course is taught through videos and all the material will be available for you to practice and master with our audio/visual flashcards. Essentially, all you need to do is show up for 10-15 minutes daily, watch the video and go over the flashcards and within 6 weeks you would have learnt how to read and also to speak your first few Hebrew words.
So come join me for H1, yalla יאללה let's get going!
Shalom, I’m Mike. I learnt Hebrew at the age of 28 when I moved to Israel from Australia. I didn’t speak more than a few odd words when I landed in Israel in 2012 but slowly I taught myself and after 2 and a half years was able to find meaningful employment in Hebrew, as a school teacher. I taught for two years (in Hebrew). Afterwards I studied to be a nature tour guide at the Wingate Institute and graduated in 2016.
I now live in Tel Aviv and work full time as a Hebrew teacher. I love the language and also helping others learn it more smoothly than I often did. I know firsthand the difficulties of learning Hebrew, especially as someone who has moved countries and is trying to build for themselves a new home. Sitting in social situations and not being able to contribute to the conversation, all of a sudden feeling helpless in not being able to communicate my most basic needs and just being a native English speaker and now having to make sense of this language which is SO different from English (and all latin languages).
All of these challenges are familiar to me. But I got there, and I want to help you get to wherever your “there” is, just with a whole lot less frustration and trial and error than I went through. Over the years I refined my process for learning Hebrew and this process is what you will learn in this course.
